Come Volunteer & Serve With Us!

Sign Up to Volunteer

Thank you to our incredible volunteer team for making our mission possible! With our easy-to-use online calendar, you can now book your own volunteer hours and join us in serving the Lowell community. Whether you’re helping prepare meals, serve dinner, or clean up, your time makes a real difference. Sign up today and become part of our compassionate volunteer family.

Our Volunteer Guidelines:

Upon arrival, check in with our Kitchen Staff. If you have questions about any of the equipment, or duties, please ask!

Get Ready

  • Put on a St. Paul’s Soup Kitchen apron.
  • Bring all food into the kitchen
  • Prepare/heat food as required
  • Wear a volunteer lanyard if applicable
  • Click here for assistance with directions to our location

The service area will be set up by our staff. Furthermore, tables will be set by us along with heat resistant mats, utensils, and trays.   

Serve the Meal / Clean Up

  • Bring food to service area – be ready to serve at 5:00 PM.
  • Serve patrons as they go through the line
  • Wash ALL tables in the hall with cleaner supplied by our staff
  • Wash, dry and prepare service trays for the following dinner service.
  • Wash, dry and put away ALL pots, pans and cooking utensils
  • Clean kitchen counters, sinks and work areas
    Sweep the floor in the hall
  • Return your aprons to a staff member

Stay Safe

  • Wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) while in the building or on the property of Eliot church.
  • Wear closed-toe, rubber soled shoes.
  • Hair must be tied back or wear a hair net
  • Follow proper handwashing procedures
  • Wear food service gloves and wear oven mitts when handling hot plates.
  • Lift correctly. Bend your knees, get a firm grip and lift with your legs. Do not lift over 25 pounds without help.
  • Adhere to all posted Department of Health and Human Services, Board of Health, ServSafe, Federal or Massachusetts State government requirements
